Transcriber
Specialist transcriber for academic interviews and focus groups
About Me
Originally based in Warwickshire, my career as an academic transcriptionist began in the Life Sciences, University of Warwick in 2003. Initially employed as a receptionist, I became responsible for other clerical and administrative duties before adopting the role of lead transcriptionist within the department. As a hybrid employee for the university, I also gained many years of experience whilst working for academic researchers, both nationally and internationally. After relocating to Fife for a number of years, I became an ad hoc transcriptionist whilst employed within the heritage sector. I also became actively involved in voluntary work for a registered mental health and wellbeing charity. Returning to Warwickshire in 2018, I then relocated to Coventry, West Midlands where until recently, I was employed for two years as a GP receptionist.
Most of my working life has been based in areas where confidentiality is paramount. I have gained a working knowledge in the management of dealing with sensitive data, encryption and the uploading and downloading of audio files via a secure link. I would like to think that I am reliable, conscientious and that I approach my work with integrity, accuracy and attention to detail.
Whilst based predominantly in areas of academic research for many years, I also have much experience in customer service, management of email and telephone enquiries, data entry and a wide range of administrative tasks. This has been within various roles and I enjoy learning new skills. As a creative person, I also have many artistic hobbies and interests and enjoy being outdoors.
