Lorna Bell

Associate Transcriber

Researcher & Transcriptionist with 25 years experience.

About me: I grew up in Scotland and graduated from the University of Glasgow with a degree in psychology in 2000. I went on to complete a PhD in public health and postgraduate qualification in research methods at Sheffield Hallam University. I moved to Devon soon after and held research posts in the NHS, local government and academia. I started working as an independent researcher when I moved back to Scotland in 2016. I work on research and evaluation projects with public and third sector organisations from across the UK.

Transcription experience: I started transcribing my own files after being frustrated at the poor quality transcripts being produced for my own research. Now my analysis always starts at the transcription stage. I’ve discovered that transcribing is something I really enjoy doing and working with TP Transcription means that I can do even more of it!

Specialist skills: Research (which helps me track down the correct word or spelling) and Scottish accents.

Length of time transcribing: I’ve been transcribing with TP Transcription for 7 years and doing transcriptions as part of my own research for 25 years.
